Chonburi, Thailand: The AFC U23 AFC Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers group stage (Group H) kicked off today as the Harimau Malaya faces The Bengal Tigers, U23 Bangladesh in Chonburi. Malaysia U23 defeated Bangladesh U23 with two late goals and secured three points on the opening day.
The Malaysia U23’s newly appointed head coach, E. Elavarasan, stated that it was vital for them to win the first game and secure the three points on the opening day. The Malaysia head coach also said they would move on and prepare for the next match.
“The boys worked as a unit and as a team. That’s the most important thing. Overall, it is good. That’s what I see.”, said the head coach.
“As you can see, it was 0-0 in the first half. It isn’t easy to get the goals in a challenging game like this. And for that, I would like to congratulate team Malaysia, as the boys worked their way as a unit, also not forgetting the objective in their mind, which is to secure the three points.”
Malaysia’s head coach was pleased with the team’s performance and wanted the team to move on to the next match.
The U23 Harimau Malaya will face the Philipines U23, while Bangladesh U23 will face the hosts Thailand U23 in the coming Saturday.
