Qatar national team advanced to the final 2 times straight after beating Iran national team scoring 3-2 in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Semi-Final at Al Thumama Stadium.
In this match, just in the 4th minute only, following the fast-break of Iran and Sardar Azmoun’s shot into the goal, Iran led 1-0.
But in the 17th minute, Qatar had an attack, and Akram Afif passed to Jassem Gaber’s shot from outside the box, and Qatar equalised 1-1.
In the late first half, in the 43rd minute, Qatar attacked again, and Ahmed Fathy passed Akram Afif’s shot to the second post; Qatar led 2-1.
In the remaining time of the first half, there was no additional score, ending the first half with Qatar leading 2-1.
In the second half, in the 51st minute, Qatar awarded a penalty after Ahmed Fathy conceded a foul to Saeid Ezatolahi, and the referee checked VAR and decided to penalty, and Alireza Jahanbakhsh converted the goal; Iran equalized again 2-2.
But in the late game, in the 83rd minute, following Qatar’s attacking and Rabin Razeian’s header missed to Abdulaziz Hatem kept the ball and passed to Almoez Ali, who shot in the penalty box to the goal, Qatar led 3-2.
In the stoppage time, in the 90+4 minute, Iran remained 10 players after Shoja Khalilzadeh conceded a foul to Akram Afif, and the referee gave a yellow card on the first attempt, but after checking the VAR, the referee decided to cancel the yellow card and replaced it red card and sent off.
Iran almost got an equalizer goal in the 90+14 minutes after Alireza Jahanbakhsh shot into the box, but the ball hit the left post.
In the remaining time, no additional score, ending Qatar winning 3-2 and advancing to the Final.
In the Final, Qatar will face Jordan on 10 February at Lusail Stadium
