The stage is set for one of the most highly anticipated fixtures in Malaysia’s World Cup Qualifying campaign as Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ) has been officially confirmed as the venue for the Harimau Malaya’s crucial showdown against Vietnam this June.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) made the announcement via its social media channels, confirming that the national team will return to the iconic SNBJ after opening their campaign with a resounding win over Nepal in March at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium (SSI).
This clash against regional rivals Vietnam will mark the Harimau Malaya’s first match at Bukit Jalil since December 2022, when they played to a goalless draw against Singapore in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup group stage. Now, the return to this historic stadium will be seen as a morale boost for both players and fans alike.
“The Bukit Jalil National Stadium is ready to roar again,” FAM wrote in its post. “Let’s unite to paint the stands yellow and support our Harimau Malaya!”
The return to Malaysia’s largest and most storied football venue is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans, particularly from the Klang Valley and surrounding regions, who will be eager to rally behind Kim Pan-gon’s squad in this pivotal encounter.
While the exact match date and ticketing information are yet to be released, anticipation is already building with less than two months to go before kick-off.
Malaysia currently sits in a strong position after starting their group campaign with a win and will aim to keep the momentum going against a Vietnam side known for their grit and tactical discipline.
The clash at SNBJ will not only be a test of footballing strength but also a symbol of unity and pride for Malaysian supporters eager to see their national heroes take another step towards World Cup qualification.
