The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has taken preliminary action on several incidents involving referees during Matchday 3 of the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 on 5-6 April 2022.
One of the incidents that became a hot debate among Malaysian football fans was in match Kedah Darul Aman VS Sri Pahang FC after Hasrol Amir, the referee’s action to cancel Sri Pahang’s two goals in the match.
According to the official statement of the FAM Assistant Secretary General, Abang Zulkarnain Abang Abdurahman, the Referee Assessing Body found that there was an offense committed by the referee even though Sri Pahang did not send any objection.
“A report from the Referee Assessor stated that there were errors committed by the referee in making several decisions including disqualifying the Sri Pahang FC team’s goal.” Abang Zulkarnain said on official statement.
“Despite not receiving any letter of complaint from Sri Pahang FC, the Referee Performance Evaluation Committee conducted an investigation, scrutiny and analysis through video recording, and found that there were indeed wrongdoings committed by the match officials.”
“The FAM Refereeing Committee will then take stern action including suspension from any match duties against the match officials.”
However, there was no offense committed by the referee for the Negeri Sembilan match against Selangor and KL City against JDT although the quality of the refereeing was disputed by various parties.
“The report from the Referee Assessor stated that there was no offense committed by the referee in deciding to send a red card to Selangor FC defender, Yazan Al-Arab and KL City defender, Kenny Pallraj.”
“FAM has received a letter of complaint from Selangor FC on 6 April 2022 and has already replied to the letter on 7 April 2022 and has not received any letter of complaint from Kuala Lumpur City FC,”
