Malaysia’s e-sports scene reached new heights as the national contingent clinched the 2024 FIFAe World Cup title, thanks to an extraordinary performance by Ahmad Muhaimin, better known by his gamer tag Minbappe.
Representing Malaysia in the eFootball Mobile category, Minbappe dominated the competition, sealing his world champion status with a stunning victory over Morocco’s AN10_Tiennes in the finals. He delivered an impeccable performance, winning the two-legged final with scores of 3-0 and 2-0, cementing his place among the world’s elite e-sports players.
Minbappe’s triumph earned him the champion’s trophy and a cash prize of US$20,000 (RM88,000). Runner-up AN10_Tiennes was awarded US$15,000 (RM66,000) for his commendable performance.
Minbappe’s road to glory was nothing short of spectacular. In the group stage, he remained unbeaten with five victories over Turkey, Poland, Argentina, Morocco, and Portugal, and two draws against Saudi Arabia and Thailand. His dominance ensured his progression to the quarter-finals as the only undefeated player in the eFootball Mobile category.
In the knockout stages, Minbappe displayed incredible composure and skill:
• Quarter-finals: Defeated Japan in a high-stakes match.
• Semi-finals: Overcame India to book his place in the final.
His ability to adapt and execute flawless strategies made him an unstoppable force throughout the tournament.
