8 players of Terengganu FC were infected with COVID-19 before against Sabah FC in the Piala FA Malaysia 2024/25 quarter-final first leg tomorrow.
This is after seeing the condition of his team which is limping as it is reported that approximately eight players have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 after returning from the match away Kuching City last weekend.
According to Mohd Sabri Abas, Chief Executive Officer of Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd, confirmed that his side had applied to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to postpone the match.
However, after holding discussions with Sabah FC and taking into account the loss factor that the opponent will face, Terengganu FC canceled that wish and continued the action as scheduled.
“That’s right, we have requested and sent a letter to the MFL to postpone the match but when we ourselves have discussed with Sabah FC, we will continue tomorrow’s action.” CEO TFC said to MFL.
“This is because they have already bought all the flight tickets to come to Terengganu and all the hotels have been booked, so we don’t want them to lose and so on,”
“And we have no problem to continue tomorrow’s match as well, even though the squad is a bit lame without some pillars, but there are also those who have finished quarantine.”
“We will see later the other players who are available, God willing they can also compete,” he explained.
Terengganu and Sabah will clash at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Friday in the first action with the mission of bringing comfortable supplies before returning to action in the return match in Likas next week.
