Johor Darul Ta’Zim continue winning streak after beat Kuching City scoring 2-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
As soon as the first half started, JDT began to strategize when they often attacked the defense of The Cats squad and glimpses of Fernando Forestieri and Bergson Da Silva often threatened the visitors’ goal.
JDT almost opened the scoring curtain in the 16th minute after Juan Muniz’s pass ball saw Bergson act past the control of Aylton Alemão before shooting the ball but the goalkeeper, Wan Azraie Wan Teh managed to deflect the ball from entering the goal.
Finally, the goal that JDT was waiting for came in the 34th minute after a short pass by Oscar Arribas opened up space for Bergson who shot a fast ball from a distance of 25 meters right into the left corner of the goal beating Wan Azraie.
Solari’s protégé added a goal with three minutes left in the first half when Juan Muniz didn’t waste a free kick from outside the penalty box right into the left corner of the goal net which saw Wan Azraie just stunned to see the ball hit the net.
Continuing in the second half, JDT almost added a goal in the 54th minute when Arribas’ long shot failed to be neatly caught by Wan Azraie and Daryl Sham, who made a follow-up shot only to hit the crossbar.
It turns out that Aidil Shahrin’s tactics that ordered his players to camp in their area paid off to avoid becoming a thrashing team.
