Malaysian rider Zaqhwan Zaidi from IDEMITSU Honda Racing Malaysia, competing in the ASB1000 class of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2025, has been handed a fine and a race penalty by the Race Direction following an infringement during competition.
Zaqhwan fined following case in the Race 2 on the final lap at Turn 9, when Hafizh and Zaqhwan collided while battling fiercely for the lead. The incident sent Hafizh sliding into the gravel, but both remounted his bike and pushed on to finish.
According to an official notice issued by the Race Direction on Sunday, Zaqhwan, who rides bike No. 21, was found in violation of Article 1.21.2.3 of the championship regulations, which concerns rider behaviour during races.
As a result, he has been fined USD500 and will serve a Long Lap Penalty in his next race participation.
The cited regulation requires riders to maintain responsible conduct on track to avoid causing danger to other participants. Under Article 1.21.2.3, the penalty for race infractions includes a minimum fine of USD500, potential disqualification, and additional penalties such as a Long Lap or Ride Through imposed in subsequent races.
The Race Direction confirmed that the decision is final and emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and safety standards throughout the competition.
