Malaysia national team lost 2 matches in this month after losing to Oman national team 0-2 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia made three changes to the main team compared to when they lost 0-2 to Oman in Muscat last Friday, they had the best chance at the start of the game through Arif Aiman Hanapi, but his attempt was saved by Oman goalkeeper Ibrahim Al Mukhaini.
Unfortunately for the country’s right defender, Azam Azmi Murad, he suffered an injury which forced him to be replaced by Daniel Ting in the 26th minute.
Oman also had some of the best opportunities to open the curtain, but were denied by the brilliance of Harimau Malaya goalkeeper, Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed.
Syihan Hazmi, however, ended up losing due to Omer Al Malki’s penalty due to injury after he brought down Muhsen Al Ghassani. Oman led 1-0.
Malaysia was lucky not to miss the second time after Salaah Al Yahyaei’s shot just hit the post in the 52nd minute.
Harimau Malaya continued to be stuck in getting an equalizer when the movement, especially through cross-field passes, was easily broken by the Oman defense.
On the other hand, Oman scored three valuable points when Mohammed Mubarak Al Ghafri scored his team’s second goal after injury.
The remaining time of the second half had no additional score, ending Oman’s win 2-0.
