Indonesia national team earned second point after tied Australia Arabia national team scoring 1-1 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 3 Group C at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta.
The match began with high intensity from Indonesia, as Shin Tae-yong’s team managed a shot on target just eight seconds into the game. Despite early opportunities, including efforts from Sandy Walsh and Rafael Struick, Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan made crucial saves to keep the score level.
Australia gradually gained control, with Harry Souttar’s header in the 22nd minute and Nestory Irankunda’s long-range shot in the 33rd minute narrowly missing, including one hitting the post. Craig Goodwin also came close in a one-on-one with Indonesian goalkeeper Maarten Paes, but the first half ended scoreless.
In the second half, Indonesia adjusted tactically, with Shin Tae-yong bringing in Witan Sulaeman and Ragnar Oratmangoen. Both sides exchanged attacks, with Ragnar Oratmangoen testing Harry Souttar in the 53rd minute, though his shot was blocked.
Australia’s Adam Taggart had a powerful attempt in the 66th minute, but Paes continued to shine in goal. Indonesia made further changes, with Pratama Arhan entering as an advanced winger, adding more flair to the attack. In the 93rd minute, Arhan delivered a perfect cross to Witan, but his effort lacked the finishing touch.
Despite Australia’s multiple chances, Indonesia held on for the draw, earning their second point in Round 3 of Group C of the World Cup Qualifiers. The result showcased Indonesia’s growing resilience against tough opposition.
