Johor Darul Ta’Zim keep the advantage in the first match after beating Terengganu FC scoring 4-0 in the Unifi Piala Malaysia 2024/25 Semi-Final 1st leg at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak.
The match began with JDT asserting their dominance early on. In the second minute, Bergson Da Silva tested Terengganu goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim, but the shot was saved. Despite a promising start from Terengganu, including an eighth-minute attempt by Nurillo Tukhtasinov, JDT proved too strong.
The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Romel Morales, the naturalized star, capitalized on chaos in the penalty box to tap the ball into the net, giving JDT a 1-0 lead.
Terengganu, buoyed by the return of winger Akhyar Rashid, attempted to respond with efforts from Tukhtasinov and Ismaheel Akinade, but both were unable to convert. Despite flashes of attacking intent, Terengganu could not break through JDT’s solid defense, led by goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi.
In the second half, JDT took full control. Arif Aiman, known for his agility and clinical finishing, doubled JDT’s lead in the 78th minute with a brilliant solo effort. The young star wasn’t done yet—he added a third goal for JDT and his second of the night in the 84th minute, putting the game out of reach for Terengganu.
With just two minutes left in regulation, Bergson added the finishing touch to JDT’s dominant performance, scoring the fourth and final goal to silence the home crowd.
The 4-0 result leaves JDT with a commanding advantage heading into the second leg, set to take place on February 1, 2025, at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
