Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik delivered a dominant performance to reach the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open 2025, defeating Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa-Kyohei Yamashita in straight games at the Nimibutr Stadium on Thursday.
The world No. 5 duo showcased their class and authority, overcoming the Japanese world No. 36 pair 21-17, 21-17 in just 38 minutes.
This emphatic victory sets up a highly-anticipated all-Malaysian quarter-final showdown as Aaron-Wooi Yik will face rising compatriots Yap Roy King-Wan Arif Wan Junaidi for a place in the semi-finals.
The younger Malaysian pair, currently ranked world No. 21, earned their spot in the last eight after dismantling fellow Malaysians Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing (world No. 68) with a commanding 21-11, 21-11 win earlier in the day.
