Malaysia’s professional men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani produced another resilient performance to book their place in the semi-finals after overcoming Scotland’s Christopher Grimley and Matthew Grimley in the TOYOTA Thailand Open 2026 at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok.

The Malaysian duo, seeded third for the tournament, were pushed hard before eventually securing a hard-fought 19-21, 21-15, 21-8 victory in a gripping 50-minute quarter-final battle.

Sze Fei and Izzuddin started the opening game brightly as both pairs exchanged points in an evenly contested affair. However, several costly unforced errors late in the first set allowed the Scottish twins to edge ahead and steal the opener.

Facing pressure, the Malaysians responded strongly in the second game by raising the intensity of their attacks while improving their court coverage and overall control of the rallies.

Their momentum carried into the deciding set, where the Malaysian pair completely dominated proceedings with sharper net play, powerful smashes and relentless pace that left the Grimley brothers struggling to respond.

The commanding display ultimately saw Sze Fei-Izzuddin storm to victory and secure a place in the last four of the tournament.

The in-form Malaysians are now set for a blockbuster semi-final clash against top seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India in their quest for a place in the final.

The Indian pair previously eliminated another Malaysian combination, Bryan Goonting and Muhammad Haikal Nazri, in the earlier rounds of the tournament.

The latest victory also continues the impressive momentum built by Sze Fei and Izzuddin this season after capturing the Indonesia Masters Super 500 title earlier in January.

With confidence continuing to grow and their partnership showing increasing maturity on the international stage, the Malaysian pair will head into Saturday’s semi-final determined to extend their strong run in Bangkok and challenge for another major title in 2026.
