Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik continued their sizzling form as they powered into the Thailand Open 2025 final, staying firmly on track for a second consecutive title.
The world No. 5 pair delivered a composed and clinical performance to dismiss home favourites Kittinupong Kedren-Dechapol Puavaranukroh 21-17, 21-13 in just 37 minutes at the Nimibutr Stadium, silencing the passionate Thai crowd with their dominance and precision.
Aaron-Wooi Yik, fresh off their triumph at the Asian Championships in Ningbo last month, showed no signs of slowing down as they controlled the pace and rallies, forcing errors from the world No. 16 Thai pair, who struggled to break their rhythm throughout the match.
The win also extended their perfect head-to-head record against Kittinupong-Dechapol to 3-0 in BWF-sanctioned meetings, further underlining their superiority over the Thai combination.
“It was important for us to stay focused, especially against a Thai pair on home soil. We managed to execute our game plan well and kept our composure under pressure,” said Aaron after the victory.
This result sets up an opportunity for Aaron-Wooi Yik to capture their first Thailand Open crown, and second straight title in the 2025 season, boosting their momentum ahead of the upcoming major tournaments and the Paris 2024 Olympic cycle.
