Tan Sri Haji Hamidin Mohd Amin, President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), has officially announced he will not defend his position in the upcoming FAM Congress, scheduled for February 15, 2025.
This decision was revealed by FAM Exco member Christopher Raj, who shared the news on social media platform X:
“After serving as President for almost seven years, Tan Sri Hamidin has made room for a new face to lead the governing body.”
At a press conference held at the FAM headquarters, Tan Sri Hamidin personally confirmed his decision, reflecting on his tenure:
“I will not defend my position. After six and a half years, I feel it’s enough. It’s time to give an opportunity to a new face to lead this esteemed organization.”
Under his leadership, FAM witnessed significant developments in Malaysian football, including growth in the domestic leagues, international achievements, and grassroots initiatives. However, Hamidin emphasized the need for fresh perspectives to continue advancing the sport.
The FAM Congress will serve as a pivotal moment, with the election of a new President being the highlight, as Malaysian football prepares for a new chapter in its governance.
