Tampines Rovers, a club in Singapore Premier League, has signed a contract to mark the start of a 3-year partnership with BG Pathum United, a club in Thai League for 3 years period.
The ceremony was attended by over 70 participants, which included a wide range of stakeholders, including fans from both teams, members of the Singapore football fraternity, as well as representatives from J1 League side, Cerezo Osaka, an affiliated club with BG Pathum United FC. The ceremony was also graced with the presence of Guest of Honour, Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Social and Family Development
BGPU is a Thai professional football club based in Pathum Thani province playing in the Thai League 1. BGPU is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative football institutions in the SE Asia region.
Through the partnership, both clubs seek to foster a close relationship on and off the field. Off the field, this will include co-branding initiatives and the appointment of BG Pathum United officials to Tampines Rovers FC’s management board. Football-wise, Tampines Rovers will enjoy using BG Pathum United facilities for pre-season and mid-season preparations. Tampines Rovers will also be able to tap upon BG Pathum United’s resources in relation to new football technologies, cutting-edge sports science, and marketing and social media/fan engagement, to name a few. It is also envisaged that there will be player movements between Tampines Rovers and BG Pathum United and its affiliated clubs.
The club will also sport new branding moving forward, BG Tampines Rovers FC, as a sign of solidarity for this partnership.
With this partnership, BG TRFC hopes to be able to forge a new future for the club, as well as for Singapore football as a whole.
