Stefano Manzi and Andrea Migno, to complete their Moto2 line-up replaced Ayumu Sasaki and Jeremy Alcoba sidelined due to injuries sustained at the Malaysian GP, the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp team has turned to familiar faces to step in for the Solidarity Barcelona Grand Prix 2024.
The weekend promises to be one of reflection, resilience, and renewal as the team brings in two former VR46 members,
Sasaki suffered a fractured right wrist and ankle during practice at Sepang, while Alcoba endured a fractured left hand in the closing moments of the Malaysian race. With their recovery being the team’s top priority, Sports Director Gelete Nieto acknowledged the emotional weight of the weekend.
“This race is not just a competition; it’s a tribute to the people of Valencia affected by devastating floods,” said Nieto. “Though Ayumu and Jeremy cannot join us on track, their hard work and spirit remain with us. We’re thrilled to welcome Stefano and Andrea back into the fold during this challenging time.”
Stefano Manzi, Fresh from a stellar runner-up finish in the 2023 Supersport World Championship with Pata Yamaha Ten Kate, Manzi is no stranger to the Master Camp team. He previously filled in during the 2022 Moto2 season, earning respect for his adaptability and experience.
“I’m thrilled to reunite with the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp team,” Manzi said. “It’s been a while since I rode a Moto2 bike, but I’m ready to embrace the challenge. I look forward to giving my best and creating some great memories with the team.”
Andrea Migno, For Migno, this weekend marks a significant milestone—his Moto2 debut. A former Moto3 standout and a VR46 Riders Academy member, Migno hasn’t competed since mid-2023. However, he views this opportunity as a dream fulfilled.
“Riding a Moto2 bike in the World Championship is an incredible honor,” Migno said. “After time away, I’m eager to enjoy every moment and make the most of this magical opportunity. I thank everyone at Yamaha VR46 for their trust and support.”
