Malaysia national junior hockey squad wrapped up their group stage campaign with an unblemished record, securing their fourth consecutive victory in the Sultan of Johor Cup 2026 by thrashing Canada 6-1 at the Johor Hockey Stadium, Taman Daya.

The emphatic result ensured the Young Tigers finished at the summit of the league standings in the 14th edition.

Head coach Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin's charges, who had already booked their ticket to the final after edging Pakistan 3-2 on Wednesday, are now set for a thrilling rematch against Sameer Hussain's side in tomorrow night's title decider. Pakistan secured their spot in the final following a 2-2 draw with Japan earlier in the afternoon.

Despite the commanding final scoreline, the Young Tigers suffered an early scare. In the fifth minute, they failed to contain a swift Canadian attacking move, allowing Caleb Fitch to set up Navdip Chandi for the opening goal.

However, the Malaysian juniors responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Muhammad Hafiezuddin Mohd Ali embarked on a dazzling solo run into the D before unleashing a powerful reverse hit that left Canadian goalkeeper Morgan Garside with no chance.

The floodgates then opened as T Naaveenesh Panicker fired the hosts ahead in the 15th minute, followed by a third goal from Muhammad Faiz Afzan Mohd Faizal seven minutes later.

The Young Tigers' glorious night continued with a relentless display of attacking hockey. They added three more goals through Rahuul Fazrien Muhammad Nazrien (30th minute), G Dheeressh (41st minute), and Muhammad Safwan Salihe (45th minute) to seal a comprehensive 6-1 rout.
