BANGKOK, 10 July 2025 – Selangor FC endured a frustrating start to their pre-season campaign in Thailand, falling 1-0 to Thai League 1 side Ratchaburi FC in their first warm-up match held at Dragon Solar Park on Wednesday.
The friendly marks the first of five scheduled matches against Thai clubs as part of Selangor’s preparations ahead of the new season.
New head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi opted for a blend of senior and new signings in the starting eleven, with familiar faces such as Pitcha Autra, Richmond Ankrah, and Zikri Khalili spotted in the lineup.
However, the Red Giants were caught off-guard in the 18th minute, when Ratchaburi’s Spanish import Tana unleashed a powerful right-footed strike into the bottom corner following a well-worked move down Selangor’s left flank.
Shaken by the early setback, Selangor pushed forward in search of an equaliser, mounting a series of attacks that tested Ratchaburi’s defensive organisation. Despite the pressure, the home side’s backline held firm to preserve their slim advantage going into halftime.
After the break, Selangor maintained their attacking tempo, enjoying greater possession and showing signs of tactical cohesion. Both sides made several substitutions throughout the second half to test combinations and build match sharpness.
However, neither team could find the net in the final 45 minutes, with the match ending 1-0 in favour of Ratchaburi.
