Safuwan Baharudin, defender of Singapore national team back to join with Selangor FC in the second leg of Liga Super Malaysia 2023 after left from Negeri Sembilan FC.
Safuwan made 37 appearances as one of the core members during his three seasons spell with Selangor FC. However, his injury in the last six months of last season caused him to decide to leave the team for the sake of both himself and the club.
“I received several offers from the Thai League but after discussing with both my parents, they suggested that it is best for me to stay in the Malaysian League for the last six months of the season, which undoubtedly with Selangor FC,” Safuwan said with Selangor FC
“At the same time, one of the things that attracted me to come here was that I had never played under the care of the Head Coach, Tan Cheng Hoe. In addition, the relationship with the Red Giants team mates will help me carry out my responsibilities here, especially in terms of Kii communication and chemistry because more than half of the players here are my team mates before.”
“I also hope that understanding with the import players and some new local players in the team will be established,”
“Honestly I don’t mind playing in any position. If the coach wants me to play in that position to help strengthen the team, I will give my best. I have played in various positions before, so I don’t see it as a problem if I am assigned to play in any particular position,”
“I am happy to be back here after six months of leaving the team. I hope the supporters can accept my return. For me, a football team without supporters will not succeed. Hopefully, we can work together for Selangor FC,”
