Former Malaysian national striker Safee Sali has officially announced his resignation as President of the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM), bringing an end to his leadership after two impactful terms.
The announcement was made through a heartfelt video posted on his official social media account, where Safee reflected on his journey and expressed gratitude for the support he received during his tenure.
“Today, I officially announce my resignation as President of PFAM. It has been a fulfilling journey working alongside passionate individuals,” said Safee.
“I will continue to support PFAM in a new capacity and am excited to see what the future holds. Thank you to everyone for the incredible memories.”
Following Safee’s announcement, PFAM Chief Executive Officer Izham Ismail took to the comment section to express his appreciation for Safee’s contributions.
“Thank you for your leadership and service, boss! It has been a proud and honorable journey to walk alongside you.
I wish you the very best in your next endeavors,” wrote Izham.
Safee served as PFAM President for two terms, having first been elected in November 2019 for the 2019–2021 term. He was re-elected to lead the organization for the 2021–2023 term, during which time he worked closely with former Harimau Malaya teammate Razman Roslan, who served as PFAM Vice President.
Safee’s tenure is marked by strong advocacy for players’ welfare and rights in Malaysian football. His departure signals a new chapter for PFAM as it continues its mission to protect and empower professional footballers in the country.
