Sabah FC, club in Liga Super Malaysia announce for refusing to release Saddil Ramdani to join the Indonesia U23, in 2021 SEA Games squad.
Saddil was one of 29 players who received a call from coach Shin Tae-yong and was projected to be part of the Indonesia U23 at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
However, the winger age,23 has yet to fulfill his call from the national team because Sabah FC has announced fot not let him go.
“It has been brought to Sabah FC’s attention that there has been reports claiming The Rhinos are not cooperating by ‘refusing’ to release Saddil Ramdani for the Indonesia national team call-up in the build up to the 2021 Hanoi SEA Games.” Ahmad Marzuki Nasir, Manager of Sabah FC, said in official statement
“Firstly, please note that the multi-sport event will officially be held from May 12-23, 2022 with football to be contested between 6-22 May 2022. For the record, FIFA calendar falls on 30 May – 14 June 2022 which means the SEA Games are held outside of the FIFA window.”
“Secondly, Sabah FC is disappointed with reports quoting Saddil claiming the management refuses to release him for the Indonesia national team where the reason was deemed ‘unreasonable’. For the record Sabah FC has agreed to release Saddil for National Team assignment during the next FIFA window from May 30-June 14, 2022. So why the confusion or criticism?”
“This is a matter that has been discussed at great lengths between the club and Saddil whereby the player understood the club’s reasoning for not releasing him outside of the FIFA window (as stated in FIFA’s Status and Transfer of Players Regulation, under Release of players to association teams – paragraph 6). For the record Saddil Ramdani is a key player and no team in World Football would release a quality player outside FIFA window.”
“Sabah FC’s decision stands firm as Saddil’s services are needed for the 2022 Super League and FA Cup Round of 16 matches which coincides with the SEA Games.”
“Between May 6 and 22, Sabah is scheduled to play in four Super League games (Selangor FC – May 7, Terengganu FC – May 11, Penang FC – May 17 and Sri Pahang FC – May 21) and one FA Cup match (to be confirmed after the draw).”
“Based on current reports, it is understood Saddil is not the only overseas-based Indonesia national team player who will not be released for the 2021 SEA Games.”
“Meanwhile, Saddil echoes Sabah FC’s sentiments and said: “I am aware, respect and understand the circumstances that has led to the club’s decision. I will continue to give my best for The Rhinos for both the Super League and the FA Cup as we focus on our primary target for the season. I would also like to wish Indonesia coach Shin Tae-yong and Garudas the very best at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi.”
