Malaysian Football League (MFL) has announced that the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, will host the highly anticipated 2026/27 Piala FA Final, scheduled to kick off on Saturday, January 16, 2027.

The major venue pivot was green-lit during the MFL Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday. The decision comes as the TM National Stadium in Bukit Jalil remains firmly shut down. The iconic national arena is currently undergoing massive, ground-up upgrades to its pitch, running track, and facilities ahead of the 2027 SEA Games. According to the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM), the Bukit Jalil overhaul will not be completed until May 2027.

Forced to seek a premium alternative, the MFL immediately turned to SSI as the undisputed top choice. The selection was driven by the stadium's immaculate pitch condition, elite logistics, and world-class infrastructure. Boasting a fierce capacity of 35,109, SSI guarantees top-tier corporate suites, flawless fan access, high-level security protocols, and seamless live broadcast production capabilities.

The Johor venue’s reputation as an elite international battleground is already fully cemented. SSI successfully hosted Harimau Malaya’s Tier 1 friendly against Palestine in September 2025 and the crucial 2027 Asian Cup Qualifier against Nepal in March 2025. Crucially, the stadium thrives under cup final pressure, having perfectly staged the explosive 2023 FA Cup Final where Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) dispatched Kuala Lumpur City FC 2-0.
