Malaysian University FT, a club from Liga A1 semi-pro made a surprise to quarter-final after beating PDRM FC scoring 3-0 in the Piala FA Malaysia 2024/25 Round of 16 at Stadium MPS, Selayang.
In tonight’s action, PDRM FC, who went down without any imported players, were surprised as early as the fourth minute after Mohd Syahir Abdul Rahman’s fast shot hit the goal controlled by Asri Muhammad.
PDRM continued to be shocked when they conceded a second time just four minutes after the first goal when Universiti Malaysia’s quick counter attack was finished off by Muhammad Hadi Mohamad to maintain a comfortable 2-0 lead in just the first 10 minutes.
The police team were lucky to survive a three-goal deficit after Muhammad Hadi’s effort hit the post in the 16th minute.
Continuing in the second half, the university team relaxed their pressure when they absorbed more of the pressure of the PDRM who were trying to find a goal to reduce the deficit.
A series of attacks were launched by PDRM with the best chance to score the first goal coming in the 65th minute through Shafizi Iqmal Md Khirudin’s free kick but the attempt hit the crossbar.
Universiti Malaysia finally ended the rest of PDRM’s struggle with the third goal at the end of the game through Muhammad Zharif Nazhan Refli’s goal.
Malaysian University books a spot of the quarter-final for a meeting with either the defending champions, Johor Darul Ta’zim, or Kelantan Darul Naim.
