Johor Darul Ta’Zim take advantage in the first match after beating Kedah Darul Aman scoring 2-1 in the Piala FA Malaysia 2024/25 semi-final first match at Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar.
Kedah then responded but Sony Norde’s free kick in the 15th minute almost beat Syihan Hazmi who managed to deflect it out.
Sang Kenari’s squad, however, was surprised in the 23rd minute when Oscar Aribas’ quick run yielded results after successfully beating Kalamullah Al-Hafiz in a one-on-one situation.
JDT continued to push towards the Kedah goal through their main striker, Berson Da Silva who managed to score a goal in the 31st minute but it was ruled out for offside through a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review before Arif Aiman Hanapi’s attempt hit the goal post a minute before the end.
The inclusion of substitute strikers Ebenezer Assifuah in the 56th minute and Fayadh Zulkifli in the 63rd minute to replace strikers Milos Gordic and Faiz Nasir clearly turned on the host’s forward engine.
As a result, Nafuzi Zain’s men managed to equalize in the 87th minute when Habib Haroon refused to go in after a chaotic situation in the JDT penalty area as a result of Sony Norde’s free kick.
Kedah almost got a penalty kick after that when the ball was said to have hit the hand of JDT defender Shahrul Saad but it was not confirmed through VAR review.
However, before referee Muhammad Nazmi Nasaruddin blew the final whistle, Morales, who came on as a substitute, scored the visitors’ winning goal.
