Imigresen FC stunned Terengganu FC with a dramatic 2-1 victory in the first leg of their Piala FA Malaysia 2025/26 Round of 16 clash at Stadium Negeri Pulau Pinang, Batu Kawan.
The match at Immigration’s home ground was a tense affair. Terengganu, led by captain Careca, began brightly and looked the more dangerous side in the first half, but goalkeeper Zarif Irfan kept the hosts level with several crucial saves. Immigration also had chances of their own, though the deadlock held until halftime.
The second half sparked to life when Yann Mabella gave Terengganu the lead in the 50th minute, finishing clinically to put the visitors ahead. But Immigration responded almost instantly—Rafael Iserhard found the equalizer in the 53rd minute, sending the home crowd into celebration.
Both sides pushed hard for a winner, with Immigration thinking they had turned the game around when substitute Fayadh Zulkifli scored, only for the goal to be ruled out for handball.
Just when it seemed the tie would end level, Joao Pedro produced the decisive moment in the 90th minute, firing past Terengganu’s defense to seal a crucial victory for Immigration.
The 2-1 win gives Immigration a slender advantage as they prepare for a tough return leg at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Terengganu, where the Turtles will look to overturn the deficit in front of their home fans.
