Wan Rohaimi bin Wan Ismail has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Penang FC’s Super League team, bringing a wealth of experience as both a player and coach to the club. A veteran of Malaysian football, Wan Rohaimi’s impressive career spans over 15 years as a professional player and over a decade in coaching.
During his playing days, Wan Rohaimi earned over 40 caps for the Malaysian national team, representing the country in prestigious tournaments such as the SEA Games and World Cup Qualifiers. Among his achievements, he helped Penang FC clinch the Sumbangsih Cup in 2003, solidifying his deep connection with the club.
Wan Rohaimi transitioned seamlessly into coaching, taking charge of several successful teams. His leadership includes stints with Tumpat FA, Various NFDP development squads, Perlis U19, Penang U21, PDRM FC as Head Coach, KL City FC as Assistant Head Coach
His vast coaching portfolio has equipped him with a diverse skill set and an acute understanding of Malaysian football dynamics.
Known for his emphasis on possession-based football and fast attacking transitions, Wan Rohaimi favors dynamic formations such as 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. His approach prioritizes speed, structured play, and meticulous ball control, enabling his teams to execute aggressive yet disciplined gameplay.
Wan Rohaimi’s ambition is clear: to elevate Penang FC to the pinnacle of Malaysian football. He is committed to developing players with strong tactical awareness and creating a team capable of competing at the highest level.
