Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, owner of Kedah Darul Aman, a club in Liga Super Malaysia admitted in a press conference today that his team had problems with salary arrears which affected their performance.
Daud explained that the salaries of all KDA FC officials and players for the month of July 2023 have already been paid, and they are now in the process of paying off the salary arrears for the month of August 2023. And the salary for the month of September 2023 will be settled this December.
“I would like to apologise to the coach of the Super League team, Nafuzi Zain, the coaching staff, all officials, staff and players and their family members for the financial problems or, more precisely, the cash flow problems that KDA FC is facing, which has caused the problem of salary arrears,” Daud said on a live press conference on Facebook page KDA FC.
“And this also resulted in the team’s performance being less encouraging lately.”
“In this context, I also apologize to the supporters and fans for all the weaknesses of KDA FC that resulted in a less than exciting performance.”
“As the owner, I take full responsibility for the financial problems facing KDA FC, a football club that has been fully privatized since August 2022 is no different than managing a company.”
“Sometimes some planning and generation and marketing strategies don’t happen as planned. All income is only from limited sources in the context of stock development contributions and also sponsorship and ticket and merchandise revenue,”
“God willing, the salary for September 2023 will be tried to be cleared in December 2023,”
In addition, a live press conference has revealed Rodney Calvin, a Malaysian centre-back of the club, has decided to terminate the contract with mutual agreement.
