Malaysia head coach Osmera Omaro was equally optimistic of his team’s knockout stage chances.
“We’re really excited to be among the 16 teams in this tournament,” said Osmera. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to compete against some strong teams in Group A. Our goal is to make our country proud and we’re eager to learn and improve along the way.
“We’ll give it our all on the field and hope to leave a positive mark in this competition.”
Malaysia will be featuring in the Finals for the fourth successive edition with their best finish coming in 2014 when they reached the quarter-finals.
“After a brief stay in Qatar and a series of friendlies against international teams, we are hopeful that our preparations will be sufficient to propel us forward in the competition,” said Osmera. “While playing in Thailand may be familiar territory for us, we do not view it as an advantage. We understand that there is always room for improvement, and we acknowledge the need to refine certain areas.
“Nevertheless, we are confident in our team and feel well-prepared for the challenges ahead. With some fine-tuning, we believe we will be in a good position to progress.”
