Malaysia U17 national team opening tournament lost to Yemen U17 national team with a score of 0-4 in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2023 Group stage, Group A at Thammasat University Rangsit Stadium, Pathum Thani.
In the first action, Malaysia was worried after just five minutes of play that a mistake in the country’s defense was almost punished before the ball was successfully released by Adib Adnan.
The same situation repeated a minute later but Malaysia’s goal was once again saved before Yemen also made a mistake in the 11th minute but Muhammad Anjasmirza’s attempt in front of the Yemeni goal went a long way.
However, Abdul Rahman Al Kadher managed to overcome the offside trap and lavished a fine cross to open the net for Yemen in the 20th minute.
Malaysia continued to struggle to find a break even though the match entered the 30th minute and Yemen used this situation to widen the gap with the second goal by Adel Abbas Qasem in the 32nd minute.
Malaysia was doomed by misfortune when awarding a penalty kick to Yemen just two minutes after the second half continued and Anwar Hussein Al Turaiqi finished the penalty kick for a 3-0 position.
Four minutes left before the end of the match, Adib added to the misery of the country’s squad when his beauty went into his own goal for the fourth goal for Yemen.
After this, the country’s squad will face the host challenge, Thailand while Yemen will face Laos this Sunday.
