Nur Dhabitah, the Malaysian diver, acknowledges that each venue provides a unique atmosphere, especially as the diving events are being held at new venues for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Olympic Aquatic Center, one of the newly constructed facilities for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, is located in Seine-Saint-Denis and will also host rhythmic swimming and water polo events.
All divers, including Nur Dhabitah, had the chance to test the venue earlier today. In an interview with Astro Arena reporter Zulhelmi Zainal Azam, she shared her thoughts on the experience: “For me, all tournaments are different. Every experience, every place and time, everything is different. So we were able to practice in this new pool which is good and I’m starting to get used to it.”
Nur Dhabitah, who won a silver medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, is set to compete in the women’s 3-meter springboard event on August 7. She is determined not to put undue pressure on herself as she makes her third appearance at the Olympic Games, following her participations in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
“I want to take one step at a time, I want to take small steps first because I don’t want to keep thinking too far. After the heats, I will think about the semi-finals and then the final. I don’t want to think too much or do anything different from what I do in training. I just want to focus on what I have right now,” she added.
Nur Dhabitah’s approach is to stay grounded and focused on delivering her best performance without getting ahead of herself.
