Johor Darul Ta’Zim, runner-up last season, started the season with victory after beating Gombak TOT United, scoring 6-1 in the Malaysia Premier Futsal League Division 1 2024 at KSN Stadium Panasonic, Shah Alam.
JDT did not wait long to open the scoring curtain when Azri Rahman’s strong shot put his team in the lead as early as the second minute.
A minute later, Saad Abu Sani put the MPFL 2023 runners-up comfortably in front through a left-footed kick that failed to be saved by the home goalkeeper, Alif Haiqal.
Gombak TOT United continued to streamline the game to find a way to penetrate the JDT goal, but the result remained until the end of the first half. JDT leading 2-0.
The second half started, and JDT continued to widen the position again through Saad Abu Sani, who grabbed a cross in the 23rd minute.
The hosts did not give up and managed to score the team’s first goal through Ridhwan Zainal in the 31st minute, cheering the fans present.
JDT continued to terrorize by scoring the fourth goal through star player Ridzwan Bakri in the 35th minute before Saad Abdul Sani completed a hat-trick to put the visitors ahead 5-1 soon after.
Bad luck befell Gombak TOT United after team captain Faisal was shown a second yellow card, causing the hosts to finish the game with four players.
The advantage was used by JDT’s advantage to score the sixth goal through Azri Rahman two minutes before the end of action, and JDT won 6-1.
