Malaysian Football League (MFL) has issued a statement clarifying the ongoing appeal process related to the First Instance Body’s (FIB) decision impacting Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City FC). Following an investigation, KL City FC faced a penalty of a 6-point deduction, prompting the club to respond to the ruling.
KL City FC initially sent a letter on August 12, 2024, titled “Notice of Intention to Appeal FIB Decision,” indicating their intent to appeal but not formally submitting an appeal. This notice emphasized the club’s intention to provide detailed plans and proposals after electing a new President of the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA).
On October 24, 2024, MFL received a follow-up letter dated October 23, 2024, from KL City FC, formally titled “Appeal Against FIB Decision on Kuala Lumpur City FC.” This latest communication confirmed their decision to proceed with an official appeal.
MFL emphasized the importance of substantiating appeals with supporting documents, including evidence from relevant agencies to outline future strategies and argue why the initial decision may have been too harsh or unwarranted.
To support KL City FC in formalizing their appeal, MFL has arranged for their club licensing unit to assist the club in submitting a complete appeal to FIB. This effort ensures that the appeal will meet all procedural requirements for the FIB’s final consideration and decision.
