Lebanon national team reached to final after beating Tajikistan national team, defending champions scoring 1-0 in the Pestabola Merdeka 2024 semi-final at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
Tajikistan came close to opening the scoring in the seventh minute, but Lebanese defender Khalil Khamis made a crucial goal-line clearance.
Lebanon then broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when Rabih Ataya’s corner kick was expertly headed in by Jihad Ayoub, putting Lebanon in the lead.
Both teams continued to push for goals in the second half, but neither could capitalize on their chances, leaving the score at 1-0 in favor of Lebanon. This victory sees Lebanon, under the guidance of coach Miodrag Radulovic, advance to the final.
The next match will see Malaysia take on the Philippines at 9 pm, with the winner advancing to face Lebanon in the final, while the losing team will compete against Tajikistan for third place.
