After his breakthrough wet-weather victory at the Thailand GP, Francesco Bagnaia is set to tackle the penultimate round of the MotoGP season at the Sepang International Circuit, trailing championship leader Jorge Martín by 17 points.
With the stakes high, a misstep from Bagnaia could hand the title to Martín next Sunday in Malaysia, making every lap and session critical for the Ducati rider.
Reflecting on his recent success, Bagnaia highlighted the significance of his first-ever wet win, especially as rain is forecasted for Sepang.
“I had never won a race in the wet, so last week’s success was significant, especially with unpredictable weather expected this weekend,” he shared, hinting at the confidence boost this brings for the challenge ahead.
Sepang has been a favorable circuit for Bagnaia, who remains optimistic about Ducati’s strong performance there, while acknowledging the fierce competition. “Sepang is a track where we’ve consistently performed well in recent years, but our rivals will certainly be competitive,” he noted. “Now, more than ever, it’s crucial to stay focused and give our best in every session.”
With the season nearing its climax, Bagnaia’s resolve will be put to the test as he seeks to narrow the gap and keep the championship title within reach.
