Head coach Nafuzi Zain has officially announced the 23-man Malaysia U23 squad set to compete in the AFF U23 Mandiri Cup 2025, with the final list released via the Malaysia National Team’s official platform.
Experienced names such as Fergus Tierney and Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazili retain their places in the squad, underscoring their importance to Nafuzi’s tactical plans.
Notably, Haqimi Azim Rosli and Shafizan Arshad have also been included, a strong indicator that both players have recovered fully from recent injury concerns that previously troubled the former Kedah Darul Aman FC coach. Their return to full fitness is a timely boost ahead of a challenging group stage.
Also earning call-ups for the trip to Indonesia are promising talents such as Muhammad Abu Khalil, Haykal Danish Mohd Haizon, Abdul Rahman Daud, Aysar Hadi, and Aliff Ahmad, all of whom will be eager to make an impact on the regional stage.
The squad departed for Indonesia shortly after completing their final warm-up match against Negeri Sembilan FC, shifting focus to Group A action where Malaysia U-23 has been drawn alongside hosts Indonesia, the Philippines, and Brunei.
Malaysia will kick off their campaign against the Philippines on 15 July, followed by a clash with Brunei on 18 July, before wrapping up the group stage in a high-stakes encounter against Indonesia on 21 July.
