Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) has officially announced the 20-player Young Tigers squad that will represent Malaysia at the 2025 FIH Men’s Junior World Cup, set to take place in Tamil Nadu, India, later this month.
The final list, revealed after an intensive training camp and several test matches, showcases a well-balanced combination of experienced youth internationals and rising debutants — reflecting Malaysia’s strong focus on player development and long-term succession planning for the senior national team.
Among those making the cut are Azimuddin Syakir, Adam Asyraf, and P. Naaveennesh, all of whom impressed at the Sultan of Johor Cup, Malaysia’s premier junior hockey tournament. Their outstanding performances have earned them the opportunity to shine on the world stage.
Up front, the attacking trio of Danish Aiman, Rahul Fazrien, and Haziq Zunnurain will lead Malaysia’s offensive charge. In midfield, Adam Asyraf and Muhammad Handzalah are expected to dictate tempo and transitions with their composure and vision. Meanwhile, defensive stalwarts Shafiq Adam and Iman Faris will marshal the backline, supported by goalkeeper Haziq Muizuddin, whose consistency has been key in recent tournaments.

Malaysia will compete among the world’s elite under-21 teams in the 2025 FIH Men’s Junior World Cup, a prestigious tournament that has served as a launching pad for many senior international stars. The Young Tigers are determined to better their performance from previous editions, with renewed focus on tactical discipline and attacking flair.
Malaysia has drawn in Pool E, Malaysia will face a tough challenge against Austria, the Netherlands, and England in the group stage.
The Young Tigers’ schedule is as follows:
- 29 November: Malaysia vs Austria
- 30 November: Malaysia vs Netherlands
- 1 December: Malaysia vs England
The top teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds, where Malaysia aims to improve on its past performances and make a deep run in the tournament.
