Naturalised Malaysian midfielder Liridon Krasniqi has broken his silence following FIFA’s sudden ruling against Malaysia’s national team, calling the decision “unfair” and urging Malaysians to unite in defending the country’s footballing dignity.
In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, Krasniqi – who has proudly donned the Harimau Malaya jersey – expressed his deep frustration over FIFA’s unexpected reversal that impacts Malaysia’s heritage players.
“What is happening right now with FIFA’s sudden decision against our national team is not just unfair, it’s disrespectful to Malaysia, to our players, to our fans, and to the years of work that have been done with full transparency and according to every rule,” Krasniqi said.
He stressed that Malaysia had complied with every requirement in collaboration with the Government, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), and FIFA itself. According to him, the players in question had already been approved before the shocking turn of events.
“Malaysia did everything right. Every document, every procedure, every step was followed… Now suddenly, decisions are being changed? Why? By who?” he questioned.
Krasniqi highlighted that this issue goes beyond administrative paperwork, describing it as a matter of “dignity and integrity” for the nation. He suggested that Malaysia’s recent rise in football has caused “certain forces” to fear the strength of Harimau Malaya.
He also paid tribute to HRH Tunku Ismail, the Crown Prince of Johor, crediting his vision and leadership for the transformation of Malaysian football.
“None of this progress would have been possible without our Crown Prince. I know personally how much effort he has put into both our league and national team,” he said.
However, Krasniqi admitted his sadness at seeing division among Malaysians at a time when unity is needed most. He urged all citizens – including players, fans, media, government, and the public – to come together in defense of Malaysian football.
“To the Malaysian people: now is the time to stand united. Support our players, support our team, support our flag. We will not bow down to unfairness. We will not let outside pressure stop the rise of Malaysia,” he declared.
Ending his message with a strong note of patriotism, Krasniqi affirmed:
“We fight together. Because we are Malaysia. Berani Kerana Benar.”
The midfielder signed off the statement as “Your Liridon Krasniqi aka Matdon,” reinforcing his identity not only as a footballer but also as part of the Malaysian sporting family.
