Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hassan decided to resign as head coach of Penang FC for responsible performance after failing to lead the team from the lowest rank of Liga Super Malaysia 2022.
This season, is not a good season for Penang FC after having 10 points from 21 matches played still stays at 12th rank in Liga Super Malaysia 2022 but they can be qualified to play in TM Piala Malaysia 2022 after Melaka United can’t participate due to financial problem.
After resigned of Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hassan, the club has appointed Manzoor Azwira Abd Wahid Assistant coach to be an interim head coach for a match against Selangor FC in the last match of the season on 15 October.
“With this, the Management would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hassan who has been willing to give his wholehearted assistance to Penang FC in managing the team throughout the 2022 Super League.” club said in official statement.
“Accordingly, Mr. Manzoor Azwira Abd Wahid was instructed to manage the Penang FC Super League team completely for the match against Selangor FC on 15 October 2022 as an initial preparation for the 2022 Malaysia Cup competition, upon the agreement given by Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hassan to give way to him.”
In addition, the club invites the supporters to come to the Stadium Bandaraya, Pulau Pinang on 15 October 2022 for free to watch the last match of the season against Selangor FC. for a sign of appreciation and thanks to all Penang FC supporters.
