Terengganu FC earned 3 points in away match after beating Negeri Sembilan FC scoring 2-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi.
Looking to rebound from a narrow 1-2 defeat to Sabah FC a month ago, Negeri Sembilan sought to adopt a more aggressive approach. However, the squad, led by Badrul Afzan Razali, showcased a superior performance, particularly in the first half.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute, when Nurillo Tukhtasinov unleashed a stunning free kick from approximately 30 meters. Negeri Sembilan goalkeeper Muhamad Aqil Abd Razak failed to make the save, giving the visitors a deserved lead.
Terengganu continued their relentless attack, with near-misses from Safawi Rashid and Akhyar Abd Rashid in the 39th and 43rd minutes, respectively. Both attempts narrowly sailed over the crossbar.
The home side came out stronger in the second half, pushing for an equalizer. In the 58th minute, Jaque Faye nearly found the back of the net, deceiving goalkeeper Syed Mohd Nasrulhaq Syed Bidin, but a heroic clearance by Safwan Maslan denied the effort on the goal line.
A counterattack in the 79th minute led to a crucial defensive error by Negeri Sembilan. After reviewing the incident through VAR, referee Firdaus Dahlan awarded a penalty to Terengganu. Striker Nelson Bonilla confidently converted the spot kick, sealing the win for the Turtles.
