Sri Pahang FC earned 3 points in last away match in this season after beating Perak FC scoring 1-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Stadium MPM, Manjung.
In a tightly contested match, both teams entered the field eager to maintain their momentum—Perak fresh from a narrow win over KL City, and Sri Pahang riding high after a 6-0 demolition of Kedah Darul Aman.
The match opened with intense midfield battles and limited clear-cut chances. Sean Selvaraj nearly opened the scoring for the visitors in the 33rd minute, but his powerful header struck the crossbar after a clever setup by Mykola Ahapov.
Perak responded minutes later when Luciano Guaycochea forced a solid save from Sri Pahang goalkeeper Azfar Arif, whose sharp reflexes were a constant thorn in the side of the home team.
Nur Azfar Fikri Azhar came closest for Perak before the break, but Azfar Arif once again stood tall to deny the 25-year-old striker. Both sides entered halftime deadlocked at 0-0.
The second half saw early substitutions, with Fandi Ahmad opting to bring on Ibrahim Manusi to replace the injured Saiful Jamaluddin, while Perak responded by introducing Firdaus Saiyadi for Clayton da Silva.
As the clock ticked down and the match looked destined for a draw, T. Saravanan emerged as the hero. In the 82nd minute, he latched onto a loose ball and fired home from close range, giving the Tok Gajah the all-important breakthrough.
Stunned, The Bos Gaurus pushed hard in the dying minutes, but Sri Pahang’s defense held firm, anchored by the stellar performance of Azfar Arif, who claimed a clean sheet and the man-of-the-match honours.
With the win, Sri Pahang moves within striking distance of the top seven, now trailing Perak by just one point in the standings. The victory also keeps their spirits high ahead of their final league match.
Next, Sri Pahang will host Penang FC in Temerloh on April 19, while Perak wraps up their season against Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium on April 20.
This narrow win highlights Sri Pahang’s grit and late-season form, as they look to finish their campaign on a high before turning their full focus to the 2024/25 Unifi Malaysia Cup Final against Johor Darul Ta’zim on April 26.
