Sabah FC climbed up to 3rd rank on the table after opening home winning Selangor FC with a score of 2-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
Saddil completed the penalty kick in the 24th minute after Baddrol was brought down in the Selangor penalty box when facing a challenge from the visiting team’s players.
Selangor then got an equalizing goal through Faisal Halim’s attempt which hit the crossbar before the ball bounced down and went straight into Sabah’s goal in the 51st minute.
Sabah managed to regain the lead after getting a free kick in the 64th minute by Baddrol who saw the kick continue to rush towards the Selangor goal.
The goal that changed the game to 2-1 relieved the Sabah team who were previously under pressure to find a goal after being conceded by Selangor.
Overall, both teams played equally hard with each counter attacking and try after try starting as early as the first minute of the game until the final whistle.
Both teams are seen to be always looking for opportunities, but the cautious attitude of their respective defenses, in addition to the mistakes of some planning and movements thwarted their efforts to create goals.
Thrilling action since the first half heated up throughout the second half, especially with extra time that lasted until the 100th minute must have worried Sabah as the leader of the game.
However, Sabah finally managed to maintain the position 2-1, thus adding three points to climb to the third place in the Super League table, tonight.
