Kedah Darul Aman picked up one point despite a two-goal lead but ended with a tied PJ City 3-3 in Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
Kedah should have scored the first goal as early as the fifth minute when Ronald Ngah only had to beat Kalamullah Al-Hafiz but the striker was just a ‘kick in the wind’ and the ball was easily caught by the PJ City FC goalkeeper.
However, Ngah made up for the frustration in the 18th minute by taking advantage of the chaotic situation at the goal gate of PJ City FC when he quickly grabbed the ball that arrived in front of him to open the scoring for the visitors.
National striker Darren Lok brought PJ City back into the match when his welcoming finisher M Tamil Maran’s first try landed on the crossbar making the score tied 1-1 in the 28th minute.
The 1-1 position only lasted three minutes after Syafiq Ahmad’s pass started from a free kick completed by Ngah, thus giving relief to KDA who returned to lead the match.
Continuing the second half, Ngah’s rapid movement failed to be restrained by PJ City FC’s defense and like Ronaldo Nazario, he managed to dribble Kalamullah before pushing the ball into the goal to complete a hat-trick in the 64th minute.
Refusing to give up, PJ City FC closed the gap through Mahali Jasuli’s header in the 76th minute before Khyril completed the hosts’ comeback with a third goal in the 83rd minute.
