Negeri Sembilan FC secured a valuable point after a 2-2 draw with Kedah Darul Aman in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 match at Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar.
After suffering three consecutive losses, Negeri Sembilan, under the guidance of their new head coach K. Nanthakumar, showed resilience by bringing home a point.
The match, which kicked off at 5:30 PM in front of 1,646 supporters, saw Kedah dominate the first half, creating several opportunities but failing to convert them into goals. Surprisingly, it was the visitors who took the lead just before halftime when Jaque Faye headed in a beautiful goal from a Takumi Sasaki corner kick.
In the second half, Kedah made a tactical adjustment by substituting their main striker Milos Gordic with the energetic Fayadh Zulkifli to bolster their attack. Their persistence paid off in the 52nd minute when team captain Sony Norde unleashed a powerful shot that beat Negeri Sembilan’s goalkeeper, Muhamad Aqil Abdul Razak, to level the score.
Buoyed by the equalizer, Kedah took the lead shortly after through a header from central defender Jose Cleylton, who connected with a pass from Sony Norde. Despite the momentum being in Kedah’s favor, Negeri Sembilan fought back and equalized in the 78th minute. Jaque Faye found the back of the net again after receiving a well-timed pass from Hein Htet Aung, ensuring the visitors left with a hard-earned point.
This result marks an important recovery for Negeri Sembilan as they aim to improve their standing in the league under their new leadership.
