Kedah Darul Aman step up to 5th rank of the table after opening home win over Selangor FC with a score of 3-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar.
In this match, Selangor first launched an attack as early as the second minute through Brendan Gan’s attempt but his attempt went astray.
Kedah countered the attack through captain Syazwan Zainon’s attempt in the 18th minute but his attempt was successfully blocked by the Selangor FC defense.
Kedah, who continued to press Selangor FC, finally took the lead through the main striker, Ronald Ngah, who finished Mahmoud Al-Mardi’s free kick in the 22nd minute.
The Selangor goal leaked a second time in the 30th minute and this time through defender Marc Vales who headed in Ronald’s pass after receiving Syazwan Zainon’s free kick.
Before Kedah could breathe a sigh of relief, Selangor FC rose to close the gap in the 33rd minute through a goal produced by Herlison Caion who finished off Hein Htet Aung’s pass.
Starting the second half, Kedah continued to hunt for additional goals but no dangerous attempts were produced by the home team while Selangor made attempts through Mukhairi Ajmal in the 53rd and 59th minutes but the first attempt was successfully deflected by Kedah goalkeeper Shahril Sa’ari while the second attempt was hit goal post.
Mahmoud almost scored Kedah’s third goal in the 72nd and 85th minutes but his attempt failed to clear the Selangor goal.
Substitute Fayadh Zulkifli killed the visitors’ spirit when he finished off Ronald’s pass at the end of the game.
