Malaysian men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, advanced to the finals of the men’s doubles event after defeating the Chinese Taipei pair, Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Wang Chi Lin at the Korea Masters 2024 held at Iksan Gymnasium.
In the match that took place at the Iksan Gymnasium, the world’s sixth-ranked pair only needed 36 minutes to win in a straight set match 21-17, 21-16.
Appearing as the top choice of the BWF (Badminton World Federation) Super 300 status tournament, Aaron-Wooi Yik’s victory was indeed predictable against Hsiang Chieh-Chi Lin who filled the world ranking of 76.
However, the meeting cannot be considered easy because Chi Lin is the gold medalist of the Paris 2024 Olympics with Lee Yang but had to partner with Hsiang Chieh after his partner decided to hang up his racket.
Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Aaron-Wooi Yik is taking part in the Korea Masters in a bid to qualify for the 2024 BWF World Tour Badminton Finals in Hangzhou, China, next month.
They should have no problem winning in Korea, which is also the first title of the year after being scheduled to meet the host pair, Ki Dong Ju-Seo Seung Jae in the final, tomorrow.
Earlier, Dong Ju-Seung Jae advanced to the final after defeating their compatriots, Jin Yong-Kim Won Ho in three sets 21-16, 19-21, 16-21.
