Kim Pan-Gon, head coach of Malaysia national team, admitted that he was responsible for Malaysia’s defeat to Bahrain in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Group Stage, Group E second action last night.
Now, Malaysia has been eliminated from this tournament, despite winning the Korean Republic in the last match, but head-to-head results lose Bahrain.
“This is my fault; as a coach, I am responsible. Malaysian players are not guilty. It’s the coach’s fault.” Pan-Gon said in the post-match press conference.
“We need to accept that where we are here, at least the players show a pretty good mentality with their abilities.
“We played with a superior team. For two years, we have risen from time to time and we think we can do it because before this we gave fierce competition to teams ranked 80th in the world such as China and others.
“As coach, I apologize to the fans for the disappointment of those who wanted the team to qualify for the Round of 16 and I take responsibility for this decision,”
