Kim Pan-Gon, head coach of the Malaysia national team revealed will try new players in the FIFA Day calendar match at Chiangmai in September for AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 in December 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 in June 2023.
Malaysia will gather for an invitational tournament in Chiang Mai to meet the hosts, Thailand, Tajikistan and Trinidad & Tobago from 20 to 26 September 2022.
And with the local league coming to an end, Pan-gon has already identified some new players who have the potential to be highlighted at the international level.
“The tournament in Thailand is an opportunity for us to prepare.”
“This is the best opportunity against a reliable team and new faces may be given a chance.”
“We will try our best to do the best preparation in the tournament,” he said.
With the reputation built since the presence of Kim Pan-gon with the Harimau Malaya squad, there is no reason for the national squad not to overcome obstacles on the group stage.
In AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022, Malaysia was drawn into Group B to meet Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, and Laos.
The meeting with the two-time champions, Vietnam, may be considered a two-pronged mission in the tournament from December 20, 2022 to January 16, 2023.
However, what is lacking is the national squad that is starting to build performance by qualifying for the 2023 Asian Cup.
“It’s a good vote for the country. We are ready to fight. I think Vietnam is the strongest challenger in the group.
Singapore and Myanmar are also good troops, even Laos.
No matter who we face, we want to give our best and reward a good result,” Kim Pan-Gon said.
