Kelantan Darul Naim has officially submitted an application to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to use Sultan Ibrahim Stadium (SSI) as the host venue for their Super League match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on 22 September 2024.
The change comes as KDN FC’s usual home ground, Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, is undergoing upgrades and will be unavailable until mid-October.
KDN FC president Rozi Muhamad explained that the decision was made in collaboration with JDT, and they are now awaiting approval from the MFL.
He also expressed gratitude to Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the owner of JDT, for allowing KDN FC to use SSI as a temporary home venue.
“Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium had to be temporarily closed for the upgrading process so we request that the venue of the Super League match with JDT be changed to SSI.” Rozi said.
“On behalf of KDN FC, I would like to express my gratitude to the owner of JDT, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for giving us permission and the right to host at SSI.”
Rozi added that the proximity of the SSI to KDN FC’s next match against Negeri Sembilan FC on 27 September in Paroi also influenced the decision, as it would help reduce management costs. He hopes that the MFL will consider their request, given the circumstances.
“Because the locations of the two venues are close, KDN FC agreed to move the match to SSI because it can save management costs.”
“We are aware that this application is out of the ordinary but we hope that MFL can consider it taking into account the problem of closing the KDN FC venue,” he added.
