Johor Darul Ta’zim U14 captured the 2024 Supermokh Cup Football Championship title after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against defending champions Buriram United U14 in the U-14 final.
The electrifying match took place at the National Sports Council (MSN), culminating in a moment of triumph for the home team.
Team captain Muhammad Fareez Danial Fadzly was the star of the show, netting two crucial goals in the 19th and 57th minutes to give JDT a commanding lead. Despite a spirited response from Buriram United, who halved the deficit through Taratap Ridking’s strike in the 70th minute, JDT’s solid defense ensured the scoreline remained intact until the final whistle.
JDT head coach Rodolfo Villa praised his team’s determination and tactical discipline.
“It was a very competitive game, but our players adapted to each challenge brilliantly. Their focus and preparation throughout the competition were key to this success,” said Villa, beaming with pride.
The Akademi Mokhtar Dahari (AMD) Dream Team clinched third place in the U-14 category, defeating Young Champs from India’s Reliance Foundation 2-1 in the play-off match.
In the U-13 category, Zhejiang PFC from China emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over AMD’s Future Team in a closely contested final. AMD’s Dream Team and Japan’s Avispa Fukuoka shared third-place honors after the play-off match was canceled.
Meanwhile, in the U-12 category, the National Football Development Programme’s (NFDP) A team successfully defended their title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Pattaya United. JDT Academy secured third place after a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout win against NFDP B, following a goalless regulation time.
The 2024 Supermokh Cup once again lived up to its reputation as a breeding ground for young football talent. From Fareez Danial’s decisive leadership to the competitive spirit of teams like Buriram United and Zhejiang PFC, the tournament highlighted the future stars of football across Asia and beyond.
